Concordia (2018)

Sicily, Italy

Two thousand years have passed, and still the Temple of Concordia rises from the Sicilian earth. The Doric columns stand in perfect discipline, their fluting catching light and shadow in rhythms that have barely wavered since Greek hands placed stone upon stone.

This is one of the best-preserved Greek temples beyond Greece itself—a remarkable fact that speaks less of fortune than of deliberate survival. For centuries, it was repurposed, protected, absorbed into the island’s changing faiths. Even ruin could not diminish it.

In the Valle dei Templi, surrounded by other ruins, Concordia stands. It endures not through being greatest, but through being resolute. This is what persistence looks like when carved in stone.
