Turchi (2018)

Sicily, Italy (Black & white version)

The limestone cliffs of Scala dei Turchi rise from the sea like the weathered pages of an immensely old book, each layer a chapter written in stone over millions of years. This is a coastline that speaks of geological time—of epochs when the earth itself was still finding its shape.

The cliffs remain. They have witnessed centuries of human drama play out upon their shores—invasions, escapes, moments of desperate courage—whilst maintaining their silent vigil. The formations themselves seem indifferent to such narratives. They were here long before, and will endure long after.
